I'll overwhelm 'legitimate boxer' Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight-round match which will be shown live on the streaming platform.

British boxer Anthony Joshua declared he will "dominate completely" Jake Paul and "overpower" the American as the combatants confronted each other to build hype for next month's bout.

Ex twice world title holder Anthony Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge disparity - at Miami's arena on 19 December.

Boxer's Mentality

"I'm going to break his face and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate my superiority," Joshua, 35, declared.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I intend to genuinely try to cause him pain. That's my intention."

Respectful Interaction

Despite those words, a relaxed Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - typically recognized for his theatrics - shared friendly words and kept it respectful with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted former Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "not serious" after Ngannou declined a fight offer.

Targeting Fury

Anthony Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at British opponent Tyson Fury - and rejected a large bet 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a victory for Paul.

"[Paul] is superior to Fury - he's present here," Joshua said.

"I acknowledge that."

Serious Opponent

In spite of declaring he will damage his opponent, Joshua chose not to speak negatively about his opponent's fighting skills.

"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he stated.

Paul's History

Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has mostly fought MMA fighters or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.

He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Attraction

Nevertheless, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of the sport's largest money-making draws, frequently receiving substantial paydays.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28-year-old forecast a knockout win in round four or five and stated he would derail the long-awaited match between Joshua and Fury, which is apparently being planned for 2026.

"It will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.

Size Disparity

As both boxers participated in the traditional confrontation, with their height and weight contrast on show, it highlighted just how unlikely this whole event is - and how astonishing it is that the match is truly going ahead.
